Tapaz Central Elementary School

School is a building which has four walls with tomorrow inside.

Tapaz Central Elementary School (TCES) is one of the elementary public schools in the Municipality of Tapaz. TCES is located in Brgy. Poblacion, Tapaz, Capiz, close to Tapaz Municipal Hall. Same with Tapaz National High School, the biggest national high school in Tapaz, TCES is also the biggest elementary public school in Tapaz.

Built after the end of the World War II, TCES has been serving as a pioneer of elementary education in the Philippines, especially Tapaz for 78 years. And this year, 656 pupils with details of 345 male pupils and 311 female pupils trust TCES to provide the best 6 years of elementary education. This makes TCES not only the largest elementary school in Tapaz, but also the elementary school with the most pupils in Tapaz.

Led by Glenda G. Gervero, Ph.D. as Principal III under Department of Education (DepEd) Public Schools District Supervisor Lallaine G. Fundal, TCES has a vision and mission to provide full effort toward education in the Philippines.

In leading TCES, Maam Glenda is assisted by three vice principals, they are Pio S. Morano, MT-II as Assistant of the Principal, Anna Marie G. Gadong, MT-I as District Planning Officer, and Grace M. Gleyo, T-III as Guidance Consellor. And all of TCES family have mandate:

The school shall be the heart of the formal education system. It is where children learn. School shall have a single aim of providing the best possible basic education for all learners.

The state shall establish, maintain and support a complete, adequate and integrated system of education relevant to the needs of the people, the country and society-at-large.

The state shall create a functional basic education system that will develop productive and responsible citizens equipped with the essential competencies, skills and values for both life-long learning and employment.

That the basic education in accessible to all by providing free education to every Filipino children who are empowered individual rooted on sound educational principles and geared towards excellence, competent and productive, exist in local and global communities, creative and critical thinkers and have the capacity and willingness to transform others and one's self.


To support the 6 years elementary education, TCES has 23 classes consisting of 6 special science classes and 17 regular classes with the following details.

Of course, the progress of education at school depends on the facilities available at that school. Beside of many classrooms, TCES also has several facility buildings. School library managed by Maam Grace is used by pupils to read short stories or encyclopedia for reference during vacant period. There is also school clinic which managed by Maam Cindy Lopez and Maam Angie Glory, TCES science and health teacher. This clinic function whenever there are wounded pupils or not feeling well.

TCES home economic building managed by Maam Juv Gardose. Whenever TCES has visitors, they let them serve food in the HE. And school feeding program for the malnourished children. School canteen is managed by Maam Jinjin Gardose. The income incurred in the canteen were used whenever there are visitors for their food. Maam Jinjin take one assistant to watch the canteen when she has class. There is also a gym which put up by DepEd with the help of the politician and used whenever they have school activity. And TCES has many space for beautiful garden and yard.





TCES teaching system follows the DepEd teaching curriculum, that is K to 12 Basic Education Curriculum (K-12 Curriculum). In this curriculum, Kindergarten and 12 years of basic education (six years of primary education, four years of Junior High School, and two years of Senior High School [SHS]) is provided sufficient time for mastery of concepts and skills, develop lifelong learners, and prepare graduates for tertiary education, middle-level skills development, employment, and entrepreneurship.

K-12 Curriculum has 6 salient features, those are

Every quarter, TCES conduct periodical test to determine and assess the learning for their pupils.

TCES educational support system for their pupils, before pandemic, they had Saturday class for 6 Saturdays for 4 hours. In those class, top 10 will attend for advance learning. Later, they conduct math quiz and math challenge for mathematics subject. The winners after the end of school year will receive the best in math award. From grades 1 to 6, in English as well, they conduct essay contest journalism. And for slow learners, teacher will conduct remedial class in english and math.

In counselling, they conducted counseling to children that have problems. Those are settle disputes in school, call the attention of teacher advisers and parents, and make solution through meeting face-to-face with the parents of the problem child. For the slow learner pupils in math, after the class, teachers group the pupils and give some activities and conduct remediation until they master the lesson. In other subjects especially the slow reader, they have volunteer teacher to teach. They also group the pupils by grade level.

TCES also has several organizations called pupil government to spearhead the program whenever there are activities in the school, such as United Nation Celebration, Nutrition Program, Christmas Program, World Teachers Day, etc.
